We had a fortuitous ‘incidental finding’ during quality control for our sex differences project and have identified two polygenic subtypes of ASD – one which tends to have younger diagnosis and more sex imbalance and the other tends to be diagnosed older and have a more even sex ratio. We are working alongside collaborators to try to understand the genetic and biological differences, health profiles, and developmental/symptom profiles of these two subtypes.
